In Jacksonville, NC you’ll find a wide variety of recreation, shopping and dining. The towns close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the beach communities of Topsail Island, Surf City and Wrightsville Beach offers sportsmen and beach lovers endless recreational activities. Jacksonville enjoys a stable economy due in part to being primarily a military town and a well managed growth throughout its history. With new roads and highways commuting in and around town is a breeze.

Found in 1842 and named for President Andrew Jackson, Jacksonville quickly became the economic epicenter of Onslow County because of its easy shipping access. Fueled by commercial fishing and the agricultural trade of tobacco, peanuts, corn and pork, Jacksonville made a successful name for itself. When, “the Worlds Most Complete Amphibious Base,” Camp Lejeune, was constructed in 1940, the towns population swelled with defense workers eager to be a part of the war effort. The population exploded again in 1990 when Camp Lejeune annexed parts of its population to the city. Today, Jacksonville is recognized as an “All American City” by the National Civic League for the collaboration of its citizens, government, business and volunteer groups.
